PRADA
1913
Milano
The brand was founded in 1913 by brothers Mario and Martino Prada under the name Fratelli Prada.
First as a leather goods company, then developed into ready-to-wear towards the end of the 1980s.
In 1975, Muccia Prada, granddaughter of one of the founders, joins the brand.
The pieces created are avant-garde, with focus on the search for innovative materials.
The first women's ready-to-wear collection is launched in 1988, followed 5 years later by the men’s
collection.
Miu Miu, (short for Miuccia) a more affordable brand that was created in 1993, releases its first men's collection the following year and features fewer classic pieces than its big sister Prada.
The brand becomes a group, buying in particular the houses of designers Azzedine Alaïa and Jil Sander.
Since the beginning of 2020, Raf Simons has held the position of co-artistic director of the house.

The perception of fashion by Miuccia Prada:
« I never try on clothes. When I do fashion, I dress my
ideas. But I don't dress up. For me, clothes are ideas. »
