Coming from a family of tailors, he tastes fashion at an early age.
In 1981, he graduates from the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Member of the Antwerp Six, avant-garde promotion of the Academy composed of Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene, Marina Yee and Dirk Bikkembergs, he
quickly stands out.
In 1986, he presents his first collection in London.
He opens his first boutique in Antwerp in 1989, followed by inaugurations in Paris, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.
He parades in 1991 for the men's ready-to-wear week.
From music to painting, his creations are inspired by all different forms of art.
He becomes an expert in prints, by creating the fabrics of his own creations.
The culture of old roses, the main source of inspiration for his creations, as well as the use of various materials (leather, leopard, crocodile) made him acclaimed by buyers around the world.

His talent has been rewarded several times, notably in 2009, when he became Knight of the Order of
Arts and Letters in Paris.
